Alpha-1-Antitrypsin Antibodies (see rabbit and goat polyclonals below)
Rabbit anti-alpha-1-Antitrypsin
cat# RDI-A1ATRYPabr $438.00/1ml
Presentation: 1ml diluted rabbit sera with 0.1% NaN3
Immunogen: purified human serum alpha-1-antitrypsin
Reactivity: human, baboon, monkey, horse and rat
(Not reactive with bovine, pig, sheep, dog, cat, mouse or chicken)
Uses: histochemistry (frozen and paraffin sections, for paraffin sections, digest the sections with 1mg/ml trypsin in PBS or 5 minutes at RT).) approx 1:50-1:100 with 30 minutes RT incubation
Positive Control tonsil or colon, lung carcinoma
Localization: Cytoplasmic
Background: recognizes a protein of 51Kda, identified as alpha-1- antitrypisn which exists in a number of genetic variants. The MM variant is most common. Alpha-1AT is synthesized in the liver and it acts as an inhibitor of proteases such as trypsin, elastase, chymotrypsin, colleganase, leucocyte proteases, plasmin, and thrombin, which may be released during inflammatory reactions int he lung. In the absence of alpha-1-AT, these enzymes are not inhibited and they may digest pulmonary parenchyma.Alpha-1AT deficiency is associated with chronic obstructive lung disease (emphysema) and less frequently with hepatic cirrhosis in infants and respiratory distress of the newborn. Increase in Alpha-1-AT occurs as an acute phase response to tissue necrosis and inflammation. Serum level of Alpha-1AT is elevated in rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, vasculitis, and carcinomatosis. In colorectal and lung carcinomas, alpha-1- AT has also related to their invasive and metastatic capacity.
