Human Cytokine/Growth Factor/Chemokines Sample Spec sheets (subject to change without notice):

DATA SHEET:  Artemin is a disulfide-linked homodimeric neurotrophic factor structurally related to GDNF, Artemin, Neurturin and Persephin. These proteins belong to the cysteine-knot superfamily of growth factors that assume stable dimeric protein structures. Artemin, GDNF, Persephin and Neurturin all signal through a multicomponent receptor system, composed of RET (receptor tyrosine kinase) and one of the four GFRalpha (alpha1-alpha4) receptors. Artemin prefers the receptor GFRalpha3-RET, but will use other receptors as an alternative. Artemin supports the survival of all peripheral ganglia such as sympathetic, neural crest and placodally derived sensory neurons, and dompaminergic midbrain neurons. The functional human Artemin ligand is a disulfide-linked homodimer, of two 12.0 kDa polypeptide monomers. Each monomer contains seven conserved cysteine residues, one of which is used for interchain disulfide bridging and the others are involved in intramolecular ring formation known as the cysteine knot configuration. This recombinant human Artemin is a 24.2 kDa, disulfide-linked homodimer formed by two identical 113 amino acid subunits.

Catalog#: RDI-4517

Package Size: 20 micrograms $231.00  (2 x 120ug)     $219.00/set 2+

                        mini-pack cat#RDI-4517P  $94.00/2ug

Supplied: The sterile filtered solution was lyophilized from 10 mM Sodium Citrate pH 4.5 + 150 mM NaCl.

Source: E. Coli

Purity: >98% by SDS-Page analysis Endotoxin <1EU/ug

Reconstitution: The lyophilized Artemin should be reconstituted in water to a concentration of 0.1-0.5mg/ml. Allow to set at least 30 minutes at 4-8 DEG C, Mix well. If desired, centrifuge for 1-2 minutes at 1000 rpm to concentrate material in vial. This solution can be diluted into other buffered solutions and stored at 4 DEG C for up to 1 week or stored at -20 DEG C for future use.

Note: If this material is not to be used for coating or labeling (or other applications requiring carrier free material), the addition of 0.1% BSA to dilution buffers or dilution in sterile culture media is recommended to enhance stability and minimize absorption to vial. Ideally, maintain stock >50ug/ml.

Storage: The lyophilized powder is stable at room temperature for a few weeks but it is best stored desiccated at -20 Deg C. Reconstituted Artemin should be stored in working aliquots at -20DEG C. AVOID FREQUENT FREEZE THAW CYCLES.

Reactivity: The ED50 as determined by its ability to stimulate the proliferation of human SH-SY5Y cells is 2-5ng/ml.

-Assay#2: (in testing): determined by its ability to promote neuronal survival and neurite outgrowth on dorsal root ganglion neurons
